- The restricted zone set up due to African swine fever (ASF) in the Oberhavel district of Brandenburg, can be lifted again because no further infected wild boars have been found in the area since November 21, 2024.
- Also in Hesse (Germany) ASF is entering a new phase and is bringing with it some relaxations. Individual hunting of wild boar will gradually be permitted again in many areas in the coming weeks, forestry will be permitted again and the leash requirement for dogs will be lifted. This is made possible, among other things, by the ongoing construction of permanent fences around the so-called core areas.
- Australian Good Meat’s digital and social media efforts have reached 74 million users and accumulated 38 million video views since its relaunch in late 2021. The Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) association has introduced a Social Media Academy to help red meat producers engage with the public and communicate industry practices. My Athens
My dear readers, as most of you know, I am at the Food Expo event in Athens, Greece. Inside the exhibition, which will close today, our friends from euromeatnews.com organized yesterday, Sunday, 2 panels to discuss the present challenges and the future of the meat industry, with all its components.
It was a long discussion, with many speakers from the industry, national and international professional organization leaders(Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, CLITRAVI). I will come back with my selection of opinions in the next edition of the newsletter.
